Thank you Lincoln School PTO for your support of the Readathon. Mimi Wankenne and Ying-Ju Lai made this event possible and we could not have done this Readathon without them. Many thanks to Mr. Denitzio and the Lincoln teachers who supported the Readathon. Finally - thank you to all the students and families of Lincoln who gifted us with financial donations and read for an amazing number of minutes. Don’t stop reading!
Ms. Abner (School Librarian)
Join us for Lincoln School's Screen-Free Week celebration by participating in our annual fundraiser Readathon for grades K-8!
Packets are coming home by Friday, May 3rd and should be returned to school by May 13-15.
Let’s take a break from our screens to encourage the joy of reading! Students will count their daily reading minutes, while families and friends are invited to sponsor and contribute if able.
It's a reading marathon designed to inspire young readers while also fostering a sense of community and learning within our school.
If you would like suggestions or recommendations in selecting the "just right" books for your child, please reach out to Ms. Abner in our Library or your child’s teacher.

Set a Goal: Help your child decide how much to read each day during our Readathon week. Write this as your Reading Goal on the Log form. (Example: "I'll read 30 minutes every day. That's 210 minutes in total!")
Finding Supporters: Ask family, friends, and neighbors to sponsor your child by pledging money for every minute they read. Tell them it helps our school and students!
Types of Pledges: People can promise to give a certain amount for each minute your child reads, or they can give a fixed amount.
Record your Reading: Write down how much your child reads each day on the Reading Log. An adult needs to sign it. Your child can earn credit for reading alone or being read to!
Collecting Pledges: Your child's teacher will collect the Reading Log and pledges funds. Pledge funds can be returned with the Reading Log or sent via Venmo.
Top Readers: Kids who read the most in each class will win a Lincoln School Readathon T-shirt and a JP Licks Ice Cream Gift Card.
Top Reading Class per Grade: The class that reads the most minutes in each grade will have a fun pizza party with Ms. Abner!
May 3rd: Readathon packets come home. Start asking for Pledges!
May 6th - May 12th: READ, READ, READ! Put down the screens and pick up a book! Reading at school counts too! Add up your minutes and pledge amounts!
May 13th - May 15th: Return packet to school. Your child's teacher will collect the Reading Log and pledges funds. Pledge funds can be returned with the Reading Log or sent via Venmo.
You can pay in cash, Venmo, or by check to Lincoln School Parent and Teacher Organization (PTO). Please remember to write your child's name, class, and "Readathon" in the Venmo notes. All donations are tax deductible and directly support author visits, reading programs, and books for all our students and school.
