Kids’ Test Kitchen is on a mission to inspire healthy eaters, and ultimately redefine kid food, by providing young students the opportunity to cook, taste, and then teach their families about nutrient-dense foods.

Aspiring chefs meet and work as a team to prepare fun snacks, entrées, and side items whose key ingredients are known to be really healthy for us! Some of the ingredients we highlight include Swiss chard, avocado, bananas, artichokes, spaghetti squash, watermelon, and more. Give us a room full of hungry students and you’ll be amazed by their enthusiasm!

At the end of each class, participants receive the main ingredient so that they can cook for family and show off what they learned!

Kids’ Test Kitchen was created by dietitian and mom, Emily Seward, who brings her passion for connecting with children and food to empower and inspire the healthy eaters in all of us.

Please note: In an effort to get a balanced class we are separating the registration into 6 K-2 spots and 6 3-5 slots. It is one class, please register accordingly.

Scholarships

LASAP strives to make its programming available to all families. Priority deadline for scholarships will be Monday June 10th but we will accept applications until all financial aid has been awarded. Click on the button below to access the financial assistance form.

All families eligible for financial assistance through the Public Schools of Brookline qualify for LASAP financial aid. Assistance is contingent on fund availability and will be initially applied to one course per student per family. Should funding permit, LASAP may extend additional support to families with multiple children.

General Policies:

  • LASAP offers after-school enrichment classes for Lincoln School students in grades K-5.
  • LASAP is independently run by volunteer Lincoln School parents and is not licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care of Massachusetts.
  • LASAP operates with cooperation from the Lincoln School, and in the Lincoln School building, but it is run separately by the Lincoln Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
  • LASAP is not a childcare program. Those seeking after school care should contact the Lincoln Extended Day Program: https://www.lincolnextendedday.org.
  • Please do not be late to pick up! LASAP is run entirely by parent volunteers who have many other obligations. Please be considerate and make sure your children are picked up on time. If you will be late due to extenuating circumstances, please communicate with our team as soon as you can.

Transitions to/from LASAP Classes:

  • LASAP coordinators, homeroom teachers, and school paraprofessionals, all work in cooperation to help students transition from their school classroom at 2:30 pm to their LASAP classroom at 2:40 pm.
  • Homeroom teachers are provided a list of enrolled students in each LASAP class so students can check what days they are signed up for a LASAP class and where their LASAP class is located.
  • Students who are unsure where to go are encouraged to stop by the main office for additional support as needed.
  • For the youngest students, the homeroom paraprofessional will escort them directly to their designated LASAP class location by 2:40 pm.
  • LASAP and Lincoln School are not liable for children who forget about their LASAP classes or otherwise do not arrive to, or attend, their LASAP classes.
  • LASAP participants must be picked up promptly once classes have concluded. LASAP students are escorted to the main Lincoln door at dismissal time by their LASAP instructor.

Behavior:

  • LASAP participants are expected to conduct themselves with appropriate classroom behavior. We do not condone inappropriate or harmful behavior (physical or verbal) of our participants. In accordance with this behavior policy, we will notify parents of infractions as soon as we learn about them.
  • LASAP coordinators exercise discretion in imposing consequences for student misbehavior. When necessary, we will implement disciplinary measures as deemed appropriate.
  • LASAP reserves the right to withdraw a student from programming for repetitive incidences of disruptive or harmful behavior, for repeated violations of classroom rules, or for any instance of egregious conduct/behavior.
  • For ongoing problematic conduct with any LASAP participants, we may elect to withdraw that student from a specific class, or all classes, for which they are currently enrolled. LASAP also reserves the right to remove a student from program participation for an extended timeframe if his/her conduct is egregious. Tuition is not refundable.
  • LASAP also reserves the right to withdraw a student from programming if parents and/or caregivers do not adhere to what we deem to be appropriate and civil behavior with LASAP Instructors, student participants, and/or the LASAP Coordinators. Tuition is not refundable.

Attendance:

Our instructors take attendance — for their own records only. Your child is responsible for arriving at class, either independently or with the help of their classroom paraprofessional.

Class Cancellations:

Lincoln After School Activities Program (LASAP) operates on afternoons when school is in session for a full day. LASAP will not run under these circumstances:

  • If Lincoln School is closed for students.
  • If Lincoln School has an early dismissal for students.
  • Instructor Absence: In the event of instructor absence, we will attempt to find a substitute teacher to fill in for the class, or the instructor may opt to schedule a make-up class at the end of the session. You will be notified via email in the event of cancellations.
  • Inclement Weather: When school is canceled due to inclement weather, there is no LASAP after-school programming. One make-up class is built into each session.  We cannot guarantee additional make-up classes.
